TREASURERS' REPORT - 2009 TOUCH OF TARTAN BALL
Once again the Touch of Tartan Ball was a sell-out and raised £113,800 for CHILDREN 1ST.
This could not have been achieved without the generous support of individuals and local businesses who provided wonderful donations for the auction and tombola, hosted tables and sponsored various elements of the event. The generosity of those attending on the night helped to swell the figure as they entered into the spirit of the event at the tombola and table draws, purchased tickets for the famous Banchory Bangle draw and entered into lively bidding at the auction. Thanks must also go to Laurence and Jackie Llewellyn-Bowen who provided an additional auction prize on the night, inviting one lucky couple to join them for a night out in London.
The funds raised by the Ball allow CHILDREN 1ST to continue to undertake valuable work in helping to keep children safe. A normal childhood for some children may be sacrificed as they have to take on a caring role within the home looking after a sick or disabled parent. £20 could provide games and music for young carers to simply have fun.
When children play with a dolls house they usually adopt the roles of family members and re-enact scenes from family life. £50 could provide 2 sessions for a child who has experienced violence in their own home to talk to one of our support workers.
The committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make this year's Ball such a success including all the volunteers behind the scenes and we look forward to seeing you all again at the 2010 Ball.
