The 2012 Touch of Tartan Ball will take place on Friday 30th November
CHILDREN 1ST and the Touch of Tartan Ball
The CHILDREN 1ST Touch of Tartan Ball, which celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2008, is one of Aberdeen’s most prestigious charity events and one of the biggest fundraisers in Scotland.
Since its launch, this annual event, which attracts around 500 attendees each year, has raised more than £1M for one of Scotland’s leading child welfare organisations, CHILDREN 1ST, which offers help and support to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people.
With 38 services throughout the country, several of these are based in Aberdeen City and Shire and particularly in the current difficult financial climate, fundraising efforts simply can’t cease or the ability to continue with the vital support given to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children will end.
The vision of a healthy, happy, safe and secure childhood for every child and young person in Scotland is the aim of the organisation and the Touch of Tartan Ball continues its success in raising funds to enable significant donations to be made to this most worthwhile of causes.
The Touch of Tartan Ball was the brainchild of CHILDREN 1ST representative, Major Ian Robertson, in the mid-eighties but only became a large-scale event when the late Princess Margaret began supporting and attending the event. However, in recent years, television personality and designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and his wife Jackie have been guests of honour and continue to be generous supporters of both the event and the charity.
The 2011 Touch of Tartan Ball will be held at the Beach Ballroom on Friday 25th November.
